Whether it is working on a high rise building, walking around on ground level, or somewhere in between, it is important that you have the right construction safety equipment. One of the first and foremost tools in your construction safety arsenal should be a high quality hard hat. This is but the first of many safety tools you need though, high quality boots, that are made from durable leather with thick non skid soles are also important. Some people prefer steel toe boots, and this is of course up to you, but some feel that steel toe models are dangerous, especially if something heavy were to fall on the end of your boot.

There are many different kinds of construction safety equipment. Construction safety comes in a wide range of situations that you have to be prepared for. Working high in the air, with just a few feet of security between you and the ground requires that you have a fall harness, one that fits well, and is able to support not only your weight, but at least twice as much. Any equipment you buy for personal protection should also be OSHA approved.

On of the most important things about construction safety harnesses is that they are form fitting, but comfortable enough that you actually wear them. Let’s face it, if you are working high up, you are going to have to wear your harness most of the day, so you want something that you can put on and forget about, not a product that is going to be chaffing you. This universal sized harness is black and green in color. It has a large D ring in the back, with friction shoulder buckles. It also has leg and chest buckles, with a front positioning loop. This model also has both leg and back pads, and is made from an elastic synthetic webbing that stretches with the body for maximum comfort levels. This harness also has lanyard rings that pull free. The next safety equipment harness is the Miller Duraflex Stretchable Harness. This has a 400 pound weight capacity, is also black and green. It too has a large D ring in the back, and the webbing is made from 1.75″ webbing. It also included the shoulder buckles and mating chest buckles. This product also has a sub pelvic strap, and tongue leg buckles. This one also included belt loops so you can attach a tool belt to the unit. This product costs $115.55.

When your are buying construction safety equipment, you have to look at the product descriptions carefully and make sure the product meets or exceeds all CSA, ANSI, and OSHA standards. Only the ones that have been certified can be considered the best for construction safety.
